Uganda Names Squad for Egypt Double-Header

Uganda Interim Coach, Moses Basena, has named a 27-man squad to face Egypt in a FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 double-header against Egypt.

The Cranes host the Pharaohs in a Group E Day three clash on Thursday, 31 August 2017, in Kampala before travelling five days later to the Mediterranean resort city of Alexandria for the reverse.

There are a number of returnees such as Zambia-based defender, Isaac Isinde who features at Buildcon, midfielder William Luwagga Kizito who has just signed for CSM Politehnica IaÈ™i in Romania and defensive midfielder Ivan ‘Kojja’ Ntege, who recently joined Botswana champions, Township Rollers.

Luwagga turned down call-ups under former coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredejovic, but Basena who deputized for the latter has decided to offer him a second chance.

The Cranes have four points after two rounds of matches, two behind leaders Egypt. Ghana and Congo trail in that order with a point and no point respectively.

Uganda are hoping for a first ever qualification to the Mundial since its inception in 1930.
