Cameroon Cup: Stage Set for DAC v EEMSA

The new-look Omnisport Stadium in Molyko Buea is set to host a 64th round encounter between Douala Athletic Club (DAC 2000) and the Eteki Esoh Memorial Sports Academy (EEMSA) of Tiko on Wednesday 2 August, 2017, the match coordinator Bissong Thomas Makia has said.

The game will kick off at 3 pm local time, according to an initial schedule by the country’s football governing body, FECAFOOT.

Ten days ago (Saturday 22 July 2017), darkness and lack of lights forced a cup tie between Kumba Lakers and Oryx FC of Douala to end as a Chinese ‘worker’ showed up late to address the situation.

The match initially slated 3 pm by FECAFOOT only started 2 hours 20 minutes late. Stadium workers had begun installing nets pretty late to the dismay of many. The rainy weather of the day worsened efforts. The game ended when Oryx were leading Lakers 2-0.

It is hoped Wednesday’s clash doesn’t suffer the same fate with the same match coordinator Mr Makia.

DAC, a Professional League 2 side from the Littoral are tipped favourites. They are currently 13th on the MTN Elite 2 table with 27 points.

EEMSA, a Tiko based outfit are South West Regional league partakers. They are placed 4th in Pool B of the now 24-team amateur championship following the dismissal of Manyu FC and Vipers of Ekome by the disciplinary committee.

Fellow South West clubs Little Foot, Ajax Likomba, Barca Junior, Cinyodev and Mount Cameroon FC, have already been eliminated from the 2017 Cup of Cameroon.

But Victoria United and St Peters, all of Limbe have sailed through to the round of 32.

The match between Kumba Lakers and Oryx of Douala which was postponed after it was marred by darkness on Saturday 22 July at the Molyko Omnisport Stadium is yet to be programmed.

Also tomorrow in Bandjoun, Bang Bullets FC of Nkambe will fold sleeves against Africa Sport of Yaoundé for a delayed cup tie.

The Molyko Omnisport Stadium has a new face-lift with an expanded stand since the period that led to the 2016 Africa Women’s Cup.

Nigeria who won the finals held their training sessions there in the day and in the night.

Mr Makia has said the stadium is closed for now following instructions from Yaounde.
