Coach Njuku Barnabas Cross-pollinates Maumu Youths FC

Hardly have sport reporters made use of the biological term ‘cross-pollination’ in their day-to-day reporting.

The term ‘cross-pollination’ actually explains the transfer of pollen from the anther of one flower to the stigma of another with a different genetic composition, as by insects, or deliberately by a botanist.

This ecological mystery almost perfectly paints the real picture of what is going on within the ranks of Maumu Youths FC, since the arrival of CAF License A holder, Coach Njuku Barnabas.

Coach Njuku B.

Star-studded Maumu Youths FC, a Pool C team in the current South West regional football league, are flying without perching. The machinery of President Atabe Harrison’s infant club has been unarguably oiled by Mr Njuku.

The FIFA-ranked fitness coach is no doubt exploiting the rich experience garnered from Buea United, a club he founded in 2004, and managed till 2017.

Mr Njuku who also boasts of a FIFA Beach and FUTSAL soccer certificates decided early this year to trade off his famous Buea United to Mr ‘Tigana’ for professional reasons. Immediately, he was contracted to lead the technical bench of the Maumu side, and is assisted by former Njalla Quan head trainer Nlend Aime.

The Genesis of Mr Njuku’s Coaching Career

Before creating Buea United, Mr Njuku had made his name as coach of Top Cup teams in Buea.

Buea United was created in 2004 as The Post FC. It was hoped the media organ would fund the club but failures and irregularities led to name change that same year. This time around Buea United was chosen as the new name in an attempt to attract support from the Buea populace.

The idea of Buea United started when few top cup players pressed hard for Coach Njuku to create a club where they would be training. Kongnyuy Basil, Ntuf Elvis, George Molua, Dialle Clifford, Chafia Raymond, Mokake Makunde and others.

The club qualified for South West D-2 in 2005, and since then sustained the status. His success stories also included participation at nine mini inter pool competitions. He won 3 domestic titles among others.

Buea United under Coach Njuku groomed players who are now big professionals abroad. They include:  Kamnjo Clovis of York City England, Fokumu Fabrice of Sporting Lisbon Belgium, Fai Ndukong also in Belgium among others.

The Maumu Version of Njuku Barnabas

Maumu Youths have become a frightful name to clubs participating in the current campaign. They have continued their brilliant run from the first round and now lead Pool C with 21 points.

Club President Atabe Harrison is a pillar

Their latest preys have been Home Boys (Prisons Social Club) whom they edged 1-0 on Saturday 12 August 2017. Before then, President Atabe Harrison’s stars lashed catholic University FA 3-1 on 6 August 2017 at the Omnisport Stadium in Buea.

The team commanded by Mr Njuku has returned to camp ahead of Thursday’s clash with Dynamic, a derby everyone would love to savour, especially with talismanic Ngalame Clovis fully fit. For now they don’t seem to fly an ordinary pitch but more is expected if they must beat rampant St. Peters FC of Limbe to this year’s mini inter pool finals.

Last season they tried but could not cross thorny mini inter pool speed-breaks. However, this year, their motivations are glaringly measureless.
