AFCON 2019: CAF Inspection Visit Changed from Sept. to August
African Football Confederation (CAF) inspectors will be in Cameroon from the 20th to the 28th of August, 2017, the Cameroon’s Minister of Communication Issa Tchiroma has said on Friday.
The Government spokesman disclosed the CAF agenda during a press conference granted on Friday 4 August in Yaoundé, vis-à-vis his country’s commitment to host the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
While reiterating Cameroon’s commitment to host the expanded competition, the Minister Tchiroma disclosed the aforementioned inspection date which is contrary to the one initially advanced by the governing football body during its executive committee meeting in Rabat last month.

CAF had announced the first inspection visit begins in September. Obviously things have changed.
Issa Tchiroma was accompanied by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Bidoung Mpkatt and President of the Cameroon FA, Tombi A Roko.

They all took turns to reassure the people of Cameroon and Africa on the 2019 continental jamboree. Construction works are reportedly making progress at the 50.000 capacity stadium in Japoma-Douala.
Construction works are also in full session at the 60.000 capacity Paul Biya stadium in Olembe-Yaoundé is also in progress.
The competition has been expanded from 16 to 24 teams, and its schedule has also been moved from January/February to June/July.
