AFCON 2019: CAF Inspection Mission to Cameroon Postponed

The Inspection team of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has postponed its expected visit to Cameroon ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, the organization has said on Friday.




“Following the withdrawal of audit firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), today, 18 August 2017, the CAF inspection mission to the Total Africa Cup of Nations Cameroon 2019 has been postponed to a later date”, the CAF site reads.

The team was expected to be in Cameroon from Sunday 20 to 28 August 2017, to evaluate the level of preparedness with a keen interest on security, the standards of the stadia, hotels, health facilities, transportation systems like the railways, airports, roads, media outlets, training grounds and many more.

Cameroon is expected to have at least six stadia with training grounds that can entertain the twenty-four teams grouped in six pools.

Cameroon is relying on the Olembe, Ahmadou Ahidjo, Japoma, Kouekong, Garoua Roumde Adja and the Limbe Omnisport grounds.

Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium- Group C

Japoma Stadium in Douala-Group B

kouekong Stadium in Bafoussam-Group D

Limbe Omnisport Stadium-Group E

Garoua Roumde Adja Stadium-Group F

The host, Cameroon is also expected to provide sixteen to twenty High Definition Cameras for quality transmission and production.

CAF says a total cost of FCFA 700 billion will be used to organize the 2019 AFCON. In this regard an extra sum of FCFA 20 billion will be disbursed by Cameroon.
