Another Ivorian Player Collapses to Death after Tiote

Former Sewe Sport and Asec Mimoas player Eugene Koffi Kouame has died after collapsing during a football match at Koumassi Stadium in Abdijan South.



The 29-year-old Ivorian striker who turns for Turskish side Egirdirspor was training with a group of friends on Monday July 10, 2017, when he passed out and was rushed to hospital.

But emergency treatment failed to revive him and was later confirmed that he had passed away.
A statement from his club Egirdirspor it has been confirmed that Kouma suffered a heart attack and died on the field yesterday.

"It is while wanting to maintain the form with buddies and other footballers at  the economic capital, that he met the death due to a heart attack,” reads the statement published by French news outlet, First Magazine.

BBC says the mother of the Ivorian footballer said she is 'overwhelmed' by the loss of her son.
A vigil will be held on 21 July for Kouame in his home neighbourhood of Gonzagueville, a coastal suburb of Abidjan.

He will be buried the following day in nearby Grand Bassa.

The death of Kouame, who was a free agent came just a month after that of fellow Ivorian Cheick Tiote and has plunged the country's football world into mourning once again.

Cheick Tiote, also collapsed and died on 5 June during a training match with Chinese side Beijing Enterprises.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that Kouame, a father of five, also died because of a heart-related issue.
The forward started out with the famous ASEC Mimosas before a spell with fellow Ivorians Sewe Sports.

He eventually made his way to Turkey, where Kouame played for second-division club Boluspor in the 2011-2012 season.

In a statement, Boluspor club said it was 'deeply sorry' to hear of his death and offered condolences to the family.

Kouame spent 2012-13 with FC SKA-Khabarovsk, who will debut in Russia's top flight next season, and was being linked with an amateur Turkish side, Egirdirspor, at the time of his death.
