Geremi Njitap picks job at FIFA

Former Cameroon international Geremi Njitap has been elected FIFpro representative for the African division.

The former Chelsea player was elected during the 11th edition of the FIFPro Division Africa Congress Thursday July 6, 2017, in Accra, to serve on the FIFA Professional players union board.



He was elected along with former Black Stars player and Secretary General of the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana, Anthony Baffoe.


Njitap who is the president of the Cameroon's Union of Professional Footballers, commonly known by the acronym SYNAFOC, has been one of the campaigners for good conditions for players playing on the African continent. 

Geremi and Anthony Baffoe received a massive endorsement from members of the FIFPro Africa division to become board members on Thursday 6th July, 2017.



FIFPro is the worldwide representative organization for professional footballers. FIFpro Africa division is made up of nine (9) member associations: Cameroon, DR Congo, Egypt, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe with three observers, Botswana, Tunisia and Kenya.

Geremi Sorel Njitap was elected to head SYNAFOC on Thursday November 3, 2016. He was the only candidate in the race for the post of president. Njitap succeeded David Mayebi who died after spending more than 20 years as head of the institution.
