Former Opopo Player Assumes Eternal Rest 5 August


The former Victoria United Player, Ashu Martin, who passed away on the 5th of July will be laid to rest on Saturday the 5th of August, 2017, in his home town-Eyumojock, Manyu Division of the South West Region.

Akeyuk Ashu Martin dropped dead on Wednesday July 5, 2017, after collapsing in front of his home at 2 pm local time. 

The 44-year-old used to live in the Gardens neighbourhood of Limbe. Ashu Martins reportedly collapsed shortly after conducting a training session with Top Cup players at the Limbe Community Field that fateful day.


The mortal remains of the former Mount Cameroon and PWD Bamenda player are lying at the Limbe Regional Hospital Mortuary. Removal of corpse, laying in state and wake-keep will take place on Friday 4th August. The corpse will be conveyed to Manyu the following day for burial in Eyumojock. 






He who was not married leaves behind a child, relatives, colleagues, friends and others to mourn him.
The football coach died days after former international referee Michael Ekoka Wacka passed on to glory. 

The entire football family of the South West now has more than three deaths to deal with including the late Zachary Nkwo and former Little Foot midfielder, Djiokeng Herve. The latter fainted to death in Mutengene in July 2017.
