Official: Olivier Boumal Joins Chinese Club Liaoning

Cameroonian right winger, Olivier Junior Boumal has penned a one-and-a-half year contract which will see him stay at Chinese club Liaoning FC till December 2018.

Even though the club officially announced the free transfer on Friday July 7, 2017, other sites report that Boumal was registered at Liaoning the day before.


After scoring two goals in 23 performances with Greek side Panathinaikos since January 2016, it was clear he was no longer in Manager Marinos Ouzounidis' future plans.

The 27-year-old is the third international player joining Liaoning formerly plied his trade at.

He was among the seven uncapped players Cameroon coach Hugo Broos called to his squad ahead of a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier with Morocco and the 2017 Confed. Cup in Russia.

Boumal who thrice played with the junior lions made his debut as substitute during Cameroon’s 1-0 win over the Atlas Lions on the 10th of June.

The former Panionios (2014-16) attacker started his career with Paris FC U-18 before proceeding to AS Saint Etienne B.

He has also played with Astra Giurgiu, Levadiakos, and Iraklis Psachna. His new club Liaoning FC are 13th in the 16-team Chinese Super League with 13 points.
