SWRL: SG Promises Severe Sanctions to Recalcitrant Clubs

The Secretary General of the regional league of football for the South West Region of Cameroon, Mayebi John, has promised tough measures to clubs that will absent matches unprofessionally.

The cautious note, which in itself portrayed the SG’s dismay with absentee teams on the first day of the second round, was posted Monday 31st July, 2017, on social media.

At least three division two outfits failed to show up for games scheduled for the past weekend in stadia across the region.

Even though club officials are not coming out plain, sources largely blame the situation on players’ recalcitrance and ‘unusual’ involvement in the plethora of inter-quarter football tournaments going on within and without Fako Division.

Such action is motivated by their quest for quick cash since some of the clubs barely grease their palms with adequate bonuses.

“We wish to advise clubs to take good care of their players to avoid them taking inter-quarters matches more important than their clubs assignments”, part of the communiqué read.

“The secretariat of Fecafoot will only subscribe to excuses that would have met up to the prescriptions of the text” Mr Mayebi added.

In essence, clubs are required to address a letter requesting permission in any case, and the letter must be delivered at the Buea secretariat five days before the official programming of matches.

“Any club(s) that will absent a match without concrete reasons and due procedure, should have themselves to blame” the former Tiko United coach warned.

Teams had at least one week to rest after the first round. According to officials, the league was set to resume on Saturday but a timid turn-out was noticed. The following are official Sunday July 30 outcomes as handed to Volcanic Sports by the SG, Mayebi John.

EEMSA 2-1 Best Stars Limbe

Prison FC 3-2 Dynamic

Tiko 0-1 Njalla Quan SA

Ekona FC (Absent) St Peters present.

Barca Junior (absent) v Kumba Lakers (present)

America (present) v Bau Manibok (absent)

Initially programmed on Saturday 29th July, the local derby Continental versus Buea United did not also hold.
Nothing was said about Sunday’s assumed deadly duel between CUSA and Maumu Youths.
