Zola to be Chelsea’s Ambassador at Com. Shield Final
Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola will be the club’s ambassador at the Community Shield fixture against Arsenal on Sunday 6 August at Wembley, the Premier League Champions' site says.
Zola is one of the club's greatest players of all-time and is adored by the Stamford Bridge faithful following a glittering seven-year spell at the club, during which time he made 312 appearances and scored 80 goals.
Over the course of his Chelsea career, Zola helped the Blues win the FA Cup, League Cup and European Cup Winners’ Cup. It was his dramatic goal which sealed the European triumph in 1998.
The Italian will be part of the presentation party - which also includes FA chairman Greg Clarke, former Arsenal goalkeeper Bob Wilson and CEO of McDonald’s UK, Paul Pomroy - who are to be introduced to the teams prior to kick-off. After the final whistle, members of the presentation party will hand over the Shield and medals from the Royal Box.
