Cameroon won ‘something’ at FIFA Confed. Cup-Ndip Tambe
Despite exiting at the group stage of the 2017 FIFA Confed. Cup with just one point, Cameroon and Spartak Trnava striker Ndip Tambe Robert has told reporters the indomitable lions never failed in Russia.
The 23-year-old issued the statement while reacting to sports journalists at the end of a 2-2 draw between his former club Cinyodev FC of Buea and Maumu Youths FC.
The Trnava striker came to the Molyko Omnisport Stadium in Buea to watch the day six encounter of the South West Regional Amateur League, shortly after coffering a gala match on Friday June 30, 2017, in Limbe.
The match aimed at enabling the Cameroon international to commune with his fans, friends and the community, featured Marcus Mokake, Mwambo, Joseph Agbor Yanki, Kunde Malong, Jih Kelvin Ketu, Otia Keukang Nombo, Edmond Sigala, Chu Derrick and others.
At the end of Sunday’s fierce tie, Ndip Tambe said,
“I feel good seeing such quality from young talents. I am grateful because this is where I started. I hope we groom players who will rise above some of us. Every aspiring footballer should never look behind but keep on envisaging the future”.
“I am happy, may be during my rest I will find time to come train with them, feel more pleased a footballer only gives up playing upon death”, he continued.
Quizzed on his country’s performance at the 2017 FIFA Confed. Cup won by Germany, Ndip rattled:
“To me it’s not a failed tournament because we went there for a purpose which was achieved.
We were not going to become the champions of the Confederations Cup.
We went there to ameliorate our quality, to be strong mentally, and look into the upcoming 2018 WC qualifiers.
It’s one constitution, one focus, one determination, and with that we are going to go as far as possible.”
Tambe has won five caps and is yet to score for team Cameroon.
