WCQ: Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium to host Cameroon-Nigeria

The Cameroon Football Federation has officially stated the site and time of the 2018 World Cup qualifier return leg between Cameroon and Nigeria, shortly after World’s football governing body, FIFA, finalized dates of the double clash.

Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium

In a release published on its website, FECAFOOT announced the match will take place 6 pm local time, on 4th September at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé. This implies the game will deep into the night, something only the Limbe Omnisport Stadium has seen in recent times.

The first leg will take place in Uyo on 31 August, 2017. As stated on the official FIFA website, the game in Uyo is billed to kick off at 7 pm local time at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

Nigeria currently lead Group B with six points from two games while Cameroon are in second place, four points behind the Super Eagles while Zambia and Algeria make up the tail.

A win for Coach Gernot Rhor will see the Super Eagles take a giant step towards qualification for the 2018 Fifa World Cup to be held in Russia.

The indomitable lions coached by Hugo Broos will have to work hard if they must return to Russia. They recorded a dismal performance at the 2017 Confederations Cup, exiting with just a point following a 1-1 draw with Australia in the group stages.
