Referee Ashu Paul disappoints Ndip Tambe, Coaches & others
The referee called Ashu Paul may be sanctioned by Cameroon’s
South West regional league following poor application of rules of the game
during Cinyodev’s 2-2 draw with Maumu Youths on Sunday July 2, 2017.
At the end of the day-six encounter
played at the Molyko Omnisport Stadium in Buea, both Coaches, Chombong Collins
of Cinyodev and Njuku Barnabas of Maumu Youths FC labeled serious arbitration
blames on the referee
.
Mr. Ashu Paul is being accused of
validating a handball goal, letting the game continue with a player lying in
pain amidst other errors. He was assisted by Ngwa Kingsley and Njuma Ngale.
Epie Emmanuel was the match commissioner.
How it happened
It was a highly contested game played
in the presence of former Cinyodev player Ndip Tambe Robert.
N. Tambe |
Home team Cinyodev opened scoring in
the early minutes of the first half, with Maumu Youths leveling through former
Cinyodev striker Ngalame Clovis before the half-time mark.
Upon resumption, substitute Biala
George scored a fantastic goal from a long-range strike, for Cinyodev to regain
their lead.
Both teams disputed the remaining minutes engagingly, with Maumu
Youths seeing most of the chances, one of which was denied by the cross bar.
Intensity and determination paid off
for Coach Njuku Barnabas’ side as they equalized through a late controversial
header. The game ended two all.
Coach Chombong |
Talking to reporters, Coach Chombong Collins of Cinyodev said,
“My
guys put on a good show until the dying minute when they conceded the last
goal.
But we need to correct many wrongs that are going on as far as football
is concerned.
Truly the referee was not up to the task. Those handling matches should
be equal to the task. The referee didn’t stop the game when someone went down
directly in front of him. The first goal scored was with the hand. He was not
vigilant”.

Coach Njuku Barnabas-Maumu Youths
reacted thus,
“The two teams played very
well, but organization by the federation was very poor. Competent referees
should be assigned to top matches.
Appointing incompetent referees creates
problems. The officiating was so poor. I must say we missed so many
opportunities.
This will compel us to go back to the drawing board as we
project our next game”.
Sunday’s draw sees Cinyodev unofficially
maintain the third place in Pool C with 12 points, a point ahead of the Maumu
side who travel to Kumba on match day seven. The Molyko Boys will clash with
Prisons Home Boys in another local derby.
