The Union statement said “FIFA has just condemned the Alexandria based club to pay an indemnity of 440,000 US Dollars (about 247 million CFA francs).”

The story dates back to August 2016, when the Cameroonian striker signed a three-year contract with Al Ittihad of Alexandria and after few days, the Egyptian club cancelled the agreement, claiming the player was an HIV carrier.

The matter was referred to FIFA as the player had successfully passed a medical before signing the contract. Samuel Nlend, accompanied by the coach of Union, returned to Cameroon demoralized.
Nlend was immediately reintegrated into the ranks of Union after leaving Al Ittihad.
