Commentary Legend, Zachary Nkwo, Goes Home August 5, 2017


Prof Victor Julius Ngoh, on behalf of the family announces that the late Zachary Tokoto Nkwo will be laid to rest on Saturday the 5th of August, 2017, in Buea.

According to the official programme, a wake-keep ceremony without corpse has been scheduled for Friday 4th August at 6 pm. The wake-keep will take place at Prof Ngoh’s Camp Sic residence in Bokwaongo-Buea.


On Saturday 5th August 2017, 8:00 am: Removal of mortal remains from the Buea Regional Hospital Mortuary.  8:30-10:30 am: laying in state and viewing of corpse at Prof Ngoh's Residence.




11:00 am: Requiem Mass at Saints Peter and Paul University Parish Molyko, then burial at 3 pm.

The all-time best sports commentator died at the age of 69 after a prolonged illness. The death of the retired CRTV Staff was announced early on Sunday the 4th of June 2017 by family members such as his brother Professor Victor Julius Ngoh. The corpse has been lying at the Buea regional Hospital Mortuary.

Uncle Zack as he was fondly called passed away at the Mount Mary Hospital in Buea where he spent seven fruitless days seeking for medical redemption. The football family in Cameroon particularly sports reporters received the news of Tokoto’ death with mixed feelings.

In 2012, the expert commentator was honoured for his exceptional prowess in sports reporting by sports journalists in Cameroon. The acclaimed veteran was also voted online as 2012 Sports Personality of the Year by sports reporters nationwide. 

As a student at CCAST Bambili, Zachary Nkwo played football with PWD Bamenda, whose then president was Public Works Department recruit, Peter Mafany Musonge. 

Another renowned Cameroonian football commentator Fon Echekiye has captured the fascinating life of the legend in a book titled: Zachary Nkwo’s Ultimate Commentary.
