Uneasy calm in SW regional league as clubs protest homologation decisions in Y'de

The current South West regional football championship has stopped abruptly after some clubs appealed against certain decisions by the League’s Homologation and Disciplinary Committee, the HDC.

How protests starts

Potential mini-inter pool candidate, Elame Esoh Memorial Sports Academy-EEMSA, are reported to have filed a case to the central bureau of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) in Yaoundé, protesting a decision taken in favour of Best Stars Academy of Limbe by the HDC. 

EEMSA won a day 13 encounter 2-1 but were penalized for using over eight unlicensed players at that moment.

Our source also disclosed that some club presidents have unanimously, on behalf of Vipers of Ekombe, Barca Junior, Ekona, and Leopards, appealed respective decisions by the HDC against the clubs. 

It should be recalled that the HDC headed by Barrister Sumelong Henry Awasume banned Barca Junior, Ekona and Ajax Likomba last September, in compliance with articles 91 and 98 sub 1 and 2, of the disciplinary code of FECAFOOT. The clubs were also fined FCFA 100.000 each.

According to articles 53 and 69 of the statutes, two (2) players of Ajax Likomba Nzalif Jonas Ebot and Valery Sum were banned for two years after they were found guilty of double identity, during a match against Little Foot.

On the 8th day of play in Menji, Leopards won 2-0 against UB FC but were stripped of the 3 points after the visitors successfully protested against the ineligibility of most Leopard players. 

The regional secretariat is now collaborating with the central bureau of FECAFOOT in Yaoundé, over the appeals, a situation that has slowed down its activities. 

If EEMSA truly win back three points from Best Stars, they will remain top of Group B with 24 points. Best Stars will drop to 3rd with 18 points, 3 behind Mount Cameroon FC.

But something may still happen because the President and Coach of Best Stars, Djoufack Saturien, has been spotted in Yaoundé, at the Arbitration Chambers of the National Olympic Committee, CCA. 

The official teams to take part in the 8th finals of the championship, also known as mini inter pool are not known. But going by the logs Victoria United, EEMSA, CUSA, Cinyodev, St Peters, Maumu Youths, Best Stars, and Eyonde FC are potential candidates.
