Cameroon's WC 94 qualifier Coach Leonard Nseke dies
Leonard Nseke who qualified Cameroon for the 1994 World Cup has passed away in Douala aged 78.
Cameroon Web reports that Nseke, who captained the indomitable lions from 1959 to 1966, died on Monday October 16, 2017, after a long spell of cancer.
Leonard Nseke played for Etoile FC of Mbanga in 1958, and later joined Diamant of Yaoundé.
According to reports, after qualifying Cameroon for the 1994 World Cup in the USA, Nseke was replaced by Frenchman Henri Michel, following a decision by the then Sports Minister, Bernard Massoua Deux.
He is remembered as the Coach who helped Cameroon beat Zimbabwe 3-1 in a decisive game in Yaoundé, to qualify for the 1994 World Cup.
As a coach, the late Nseke also took charge of Caïman of Douala and PWD of Bamenda.
The throat cancer which has claimed the life of Leonard Nseke started in 2011. It will appear he was dying of it in silence at his Deido residence in the economic capital.

Nseke’s demise is the 4th loss for Cameroon in a very short while after the death of Under 17 Lions Coach Joseph Diallo Siewe, former TKC President Emile Onambele Zibi and former Victoria United and Kumbo Strikers trainer Jean Kiam Baptiste.
