Copa Barry signs for OH Louvain
Former Ivorian international Barry Boubacar Copa has signed a two-year contract with Belgian D2 club, Oud-Heverlee Louvain.
He has already trained for a few days at the club’s Den Dreef base.
The 37-year-old goalkeeper who helped the Elephants win the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea has played nearly 400 matches at high level for, among others, Lokeren, Beveren and Rennes.
OH Louvain expect Copa to impart his huge experience and class on young goalkeepers of the club.
"In a week and a half, he made strong impressions with the staff and young people. Now, Copa will put his experience and his class at the service of our club and our young guards", the club said.
The Ivorian who has been playing in Belgium since 2005 won 86 caps with Ivory Coast. He was nominated best goalkeeper of the year in 2008-2009.
