U-20 Lionesses qualify automatically again

The cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT, confirms Cameroon's U-20 lionesses have automatically qualified for the 3rd and final round of the 2018 FIFA Under 20 WC Qualifiers.

Their opponents Sierra Leone have announced their withdrawal from the 2nd round Under 20 WC qualifier fixture scheduled next Sunday.

"La sélection nationale féminine U-20 accède au troisième et dernier tour des éliminatoires de la Coupe du Monde Féminine U-20 suite au forfait de la Sierra Léone," a statement on the FECAFOOT website reads.

Cameroon has been in camp finalizing preparation to face the Leone starlets in Freetown in the first leg round two of the qualifiers.

Sierra Leone is also the latest nation in the Africa zone to withdraw from the 2018 FIFA U17 World Cup qualifiers slated for Uruguay.

Sierra Leone FA (SLFA) acting President Brima Mazola reportedly said this was due to a lack of funds.

Sierra Leone reached the second round of the qualifiers after both Libya and Tunisia pulled out from the preliminary and first round respectively.

Cameroon thrashed Guinea 9-0 in their first leg tie in Conakry to progress to the competition next stage after the Guineans withdrew from the competition.

The winner between Sierra Leone and Cameroon was supposed to face the winner between Ghana and Kenya.

The U-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup will take place next year in France.
