New Stars Beat Opopo on and off the pitch

A source very close to Volcanic Sports says Victoria United FC alias Opopo have lost an appeal against New Stars of Douala, who knocked them out of the 2017 Cup of Cameroon finals.

It will appear the Limbe club sent a team to Yaounde after their defeat, to file in the protest. Opopo first choice goalkeeper, Tayiwoh Princewill, on Tuesday 7 November, 2017, confirmed to Volcanic Sports his club had taken such a step.

The former University of Buea goalkeeper and Varsity Games Best Player Award winner also said their Coach, Mbock Maput, and Team Manager, Diffang Nelson, were absent during training, implying they had gone to Yaounde.

After a 2-0 loss in a semi-final tie last Saturday in Douala, Opopo claimed New Stars goalkeeper Israel Kologni Kologni was still on contract with former club Bamboutos.

Even though unofficial, VS now understands FECAFOOT yesterday ruled out the eligibility protest, rendering the claims unfounded.

After a planning meeting with club representatives yesterday in Yaoundé, it is now clear FECAFOOT are already setting the stage for the final between New Stars and UMS of Loum next month.
