Bell Antoine debunks FECAFOOT Candidacy Ineligibility

Joseph Antoine Bell says his appointment as a member of the FIFA Dispute and Resolution Chamber does not stop him from becoming a candidate for FECAFOOT elections.

Speculations are rife in Cameroon that if at all he was nursing ambitions, the legendary goalkeeper may not be eligible for upcoming FECAFOOT elections due to his recent FIFA appointment.

However, talking to French language newspaper Le Jour Mr Bell Antoine said it's a matter of interpretation.

He explained that even members of CAF are the presidents of associations back home. FIFA committee members are also presidents of national federations.

So he emphasized that joining the FIFA team does not disqualify one from national functions but instead strengthens one.

Bell cited many examples. For instance, the CAF AFCON organizing committee where he belongs, some members are Presidents of their Federations. Amaju Pinnick, the Chair of the AFCON Organizing Committee is the President of the Nigeria Football Federation and another member, Danny Jordan, is heading the South African F.A.

Ahmad, who is the President of CAF, was president of the commission in charge of Beach Soccer.
