Winners of the 2017 Cup of Cameroon, New Stars of Douala, have returned home to a hilarious welcome.

Governor Samuel Ivaha Diboua receives trophy

Led by the Governor of the Littoral region, Samuel Ivaha Diboua, the people of Douala flooded city streets yesterday to show love and solidarity to their darling club.

New Stars beat regional rivals UMS of Loum 1-0 on Sunday 10th December, 2017, to bag home the 57th Cameroon Cup trophy. It was their first silverware since their inception in 2008.

Accompanied by the Government Delegate of Doula, Dr Fritz Ntonè Ntonè and other administrative authorities, Governor Diboua rewarded New Stars with the sum of 400,000 francs CFA, plus 100,000 for goal scorer and man of the match Alain Nandjou Nganle.

On behalf of the Littoral, the Governor appreciated President Faustin Domkeu’s squad for making the entire region proud, hoping that they replicate the same momentum at continental level.

New Stars of Douala have been drafted to face Deportivo Niefang of neighbouring Equatorial Guinea at the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup which begins in February.
