THE SOUTHWEST CYCLING FEDERATION ORGANIZES 20TH-MAY CYCLING TOURNAMENT
The
south west cycling federation has successfully organized a 20th-May
cycling race. The 20th-May cycling race which doubled as the launch
of this year’s regional cycling league on Saturday May 16, started 9 a.m. in
the Limbe Grand stand.
The over 30
athletes drawn from about four regions raced to Batoke, back to Limbe and
continued through Mile 4 Limbe, Mutengene and then Buea, stopping at the
Independent Square.
The
event was presided at by the regional president of fecacycling, Barrister
Kameni John, who was joined by the representative of the Lord Mayor of Buea,
Mr. Motombi Emmanuel Mbome, who is First Deputy Mayor of the Buea Council as
well as the national president of the athletic federation, amongst other
top-ranking officials who showed up at Bongo Square to grace the event.
The first athlete
called Tella Athur from Yaoundé crossed the finish line at 11. 16 a.m. prompt.

These
cyclists covered 75 km altogether. The first cyclist to arrive backed home a
cash prize of 50.000 francs, the second took 30.000 francs while the third was
given 20.000 francs. According to the regional president of the cycling league,
Barrister Kameni John, the reunification
race in solidarity with the military is in the pipeline.
