Underwhelming derby spectators as Avion trounce Dynamo 4-0

Avion FC of Nkam have won their first match in the current MTN Elite 2 championship. Pierre Batamack’s side whitewashed city rivals Dynamo by 4 goals to zero, in a blockbuster derby played Saturday 10th Match, 2018, at the Molyko Stadium in Buea.

The game was brought to Buea because the stadia in Douala are undergoing renovation works in view of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Avion FC of Nkam's humiliation of Dynamo ended two consecutive losses to PWD and Bang Bullets in Bamenda.

The first half was dominated by Avion with impressive counter attacking football, masterminded by Rodrigue Mfegue and Gael Bekolo. Coach Bibai Jacques’ team tried hard to distabilise Avion’s float but lacked intensity and threat in front of goal. 

Moreover, Dynamo attackers needed something extraordinary to beat Avion’s goalkeeper, Desire Christian, who has played for top flight Astres. At half time, it was zero for home side Avion and zero for Dynamo.

The second half kicked off at 4.35 pm, with both sides teeming with confidence. The two tactical changes effected by Coach Ina Ngassa Anthony yielded fruits when Yves Gael Eroume opened scores for Avion at the 52nd minute. Few minutes later, substitute Aristide Ekwalla doubled Avion’s lead.

Dynamo got absolutely demoralized, conceding three goals within five minutes. Rodrigue Mfegue finally rewarded his massive contribution with Avion’s 3rd of the day, while Aristide made it four nil.

As a result, Avion have left the danger zone to the 6th spot while Dynamo who have a delayed game stagnate on the 11th position on the league table. 

It was the first time a professional league match produced goals at the Molyko Omnisport stadium this year. Unfortunately spectator turnout was distinctly underwhelming.
