Bertin Ebwellé takes over at ambitious Coton

Former Indomitable Lions defender Bertin Ebwelle has been appointed head coach of Coton Sport this Tuesday 13 March 2018, according to a communiqué issued by club boss Jadou Fernand.

The Under 17 national team coach who played the 1990 World Cup officially takes over from Minkreo Birwe, sacked on 26 February, 2018.

Until now, Oussoumanou Christophe was caretaker, during which Coton picked up a win and a draw in the MTN Elite 1.

Pundits think Mr Ebwelle’s main task will be to qualify the Garoua topflight club for the CAF Champions League.

The 55-year-old tactician who also represented Cameroon during the 1992 African Nations Cup is expected to assume office on Thursday 15 March.

He played club football with Tonnerre Yaoundé, Persisam Putra Samarinda and Olympic Mvolyé.

The cotonites are 4th on the league standings after 7 outings this season.
