Toko Ekambi wins Marc Vivien Foe trophy in France

The 25-year -old bags home the prize for the Best African Player of the French Ligue 1 after a brilliant season with his Angers SCO.

Karl Toko Ekambi finished top of the votes with 264 pts, far ahead of his rivals Tunisia’s Wahbi Kazri (165 pts) and Burkina Faso’s Bertrand Traore to become the first Cameroonian to win the Marc Vivien Foe prize for the Best Africen Player in the French Ligue 1.

With 17 goals and four assists this, the Cameroon international has recorded his most productive season so far and the statistics make good reading for clubs that will be circling on him in the summer.

He succeeds last year’s winner, Ivory Coast’s Jean Michel Seri who could only pick up eight points in the final voting this season.

The Marc Vivien Foe prize was named in honour of former Cameroon international who died in 2003 at the Gerland stadium in Lyon while playing for the Idomitable Lions at the FIFA Confederation Cup. He was at the time a Lyon play on loan at Manchester City.
