Handball And Football Outfits: Heroes of UB’s Glittering Medals In Cameroon’s Varsity Games 2015





Some disciplines including the masculine handball (Gladiators) and football squads magnificently wore UB’s colours with pride in the recent 2015 varsity games played in May on the campus of Yaoundé I University.

With the support of the number one sports lady, the Vice Chancellor of UB Nalova Lyonga, the University of Buea Football Club was impeccably instrumental for the Anglo-Saxon learning abode in this year’s Cameroon’s all university games, which commanded about 4500 athletes from 19 higher institutions of learning to converge on the University of Yaoundé I premises.

The notable academic soccer warriors of  head coach, Nicholas Asongu, rubbed the turf with the University of Douala (2014 winner), Saint Jerome Institute and INJS, finishing top in Pool B on 9 points 6 goals.
 










Male Handball Team: Consecutive Heroes









It would not only be an incomplete one but a far-fetched tale if the Gladiators are not also accorded the recognition they due, as far as varsity games are concerned in recent years. By their fruits we shall know them so it is said, however, by their name they have had to win gold medals consecutively for the English-Speaking Mother Hen (UB), so it has to be said hence.

The male handball team of UB now has two gold medals in its keeping, reaped from varsity games 2014 and 2015. Simon Burchard Mengede is the technician behind (head coach) these spitting cobras who won’t give up till they have seen the end in their contests. 


Despite losing the chance to represent Cameroon in October 2014 for the African handball competition as result of ministerial mismanagement of funds, the hero who doubles as the vice head coach of the national handball team of Cameroon has never for once watered down the vein which holds the Gladiators into a rock-solid unit.Visit fenasu.com for more details if you can.



Ngabo Junior, Akuro Zuwed and Bechem Divine play with the national team. Also, the coach of the junior lions contacted UB FC goalkeeper, Taiwo Princewill meanwhile Bakebo the centre forward was contacted by the coach of Cotonsports of Garoua. The Yaoundé II University will host the 2016 varsity sports festival.
