Can N’dy Assembe move away from FC Nancy Completely?
The future of goalkeeper Guy Roland N’dy Assembe is unknown as his contract draws to a close at France’s Ligue 2 club Nancy-Lorraine.
Reports claims the 31-year-old Cameroonian international who is managed by Bestway Soccer Limited has been contacted by newly promoted Ligue Un side Racing club de Strasbourg, as his current engagement ends this month.
In December 2016, French famous sports newspaper L’Equipe reported how various European clubs were showing interest in the shot-stopper. The report further enumerated that a Spanish club, two Turkish sides and two Championship sides were considering a move for the former Guingamp keeper.
Assembe whose recent performances have not been able to attract a call-up by Cameroon Coach Hugo Broos, engaged with Nancy on 15th July 2011. Since then, the 16-capped goalie has had spells at Valenciennes, Guingamp and both the senior and junior teams of Nantes.
The 31-year-old was among the three Cameroon goalkeepers who attended the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea. He was also called up ahead of Cameroon’s 2017 AFCON qualifier clash with the Bafana-Bafana in March 2016.
As a pure product of FC Nantes, N’dy Assembe has met and trained with experienced goalkeepers such as Fabien Barthez, Jerome Alonzo and local legend Mickael Landreau. He was coached and discovered by manager Elie Baup, himself an ex-goalkeeper.
