Will the South West Region be Represented in League One Next Season?

Lovers of football south west of Cameroon are in a confused state as their lone representative in the Cameroon Premier League, Njalla Quan Sports Academy (NQSA), are still in the relegation zone with only 3 games to go.

The darling club of the sea-side resort town fortunately escaped a similar scenario last football season. However, supporters across the region think that they may not be a second chance for the ‘bottom-cursed’ club to survive this time.

All Hope is not Lost, Club President Rattles
Club president, Njalla Quan Junior, on Tuesday August 25 told reporters that the encounter on Sunday August 30 in the centre region between his struggling club and Dragon of Yaoundé determines their future in Cameroon premier league.

NQSA occupies the 17th position on the classification table with 31 points. The Victoria boys have barely scored 15 goals and have the least chance to survive relegation by the end of this season. The Oceanic foot soldiers who have had 8 wins, defeated 16 times, 7 draws and conceded 31 goals must win all the remaining three matches to save themselves from the freezing zone.

Talking on Tuesday August 25, Njalla Quan Jr. said, “ I believe we can do it again like last year with 3 games remaining. My attackers are unrealistic before the goal. I don’t want to believe that because I owe my players 2-month salary, they should behave funny. No club in Cameroon can be proud of updating players’ salary.”

NQSA face Dragon on Sunday in Yaounde for the 32nd day of play. Their remaining fixtures are as follows: NQSA vs. UMS FC of Loum and Yong Sports vs. NQSA, the latter is a highly awaited Anglo-Saxon derby to be played at the Mankon Municipal stadium.
