University of Buea Male Handball Team Ready for Dreaded Nziko of Yaounde

The "Gladiators" of the University of Buea are poised to snatch FANZ of Yaounde this weekend for the fifth day of play in the on-going Elite National Handball Championship of Cameroon.

So far, the boys of coach Simon Burchard have won 3 and lost only one since the championship hit the ground running. Last weekend they experienced their first defeat in Yaounde losing 23 to 11 to ECLAIR d'ESEKA. However, they recovered speedily to impose a 32-26 defeat on CAMSTAR Sunday 12th April still in Yaounde.

It should be noted that they are the vice champions of Cameroon and had failed to represent Cameroon last year in the Tunisia African Handball Championship due to late financial disbursement by the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education.

"We did well last year, we intend to do our best again because we are called "Gladiators", meaning we fight till the end", head coach of UB HB team, Simon Burchard, talking to this reporter on phone.

"Concerning Saturday's game, Nziko boys are the most dangerous but my boys are also up to the task, I believe you have seen our results this far", continued coach Burchard.

From every indication, the "Gladiators" are fighting a multiple-front war, that is, preparing all varsity games and participating in the national championship. However, the future will soon be known.
